Beginning October 10, 2016 the Man of Steel - Superman himself will be returning to the small screen for the first time in years. Not since the final episode of Smallville has the return of the son of Jor-El been so highly anticipated by fans of comicdom.
The CW Network, home of other great DC Entertainment TV shows "Arrow," "Flash," Legends of Tomorrow, and now "Supergirl" will be introducing the Man of Steel on Supergirl, the show picked up from CBS by The CW.
Many were hoping Smallville's Tom Welling would be reprising his famous role and put on the cap and the Kryptonian symbol of Hope. However, that role has gone to "Teen Wolf" star Tyler Hoechlin. Pictured here on the set of Supergirl are Tyler with Arrow star Stephen Amell. Filming of the second season of Supergirl is well underway for the grand premiere on The CW Network this fall.
Doug Drexler, visual effects artist, designer, sculptor, illustrator, and a makeup artist, makes this astounding video presentation of the 40th Celebration of the Smithsonian's Air and Space Museum re-opening just in time for Star Trek's 50th Anniversary. One of the center pieces of the museum is the fully reconstructed original model of the USS Enterprise NCC-1701 used in the original Star Trek series.
According to an article on the website 13th Dimension original series Star Trek alum George Takei thinks a Muslim character is needed on the bridge of the upcoming Star Trek show set to debut in January 2017 on CBS All Access.
Interviewer Dan Greenfield stated to George, “I was thinking about it as you were talking, that you know with the new Star Trek TV show coming, it might make a lot of sense to have a Muslim character on the bridge. Because I don’t think that’s ever happened before on Star Trek.”
And Takei, replied: “I think that would be very important because that would represent a major part of the diversity of this planet.”
Why would it be important George? No other Earth created religion was ever featured on Trek except for a very vague TOS inference to a possible son of god on one parallel Earth-like planet in which a Roman-like empire was still in existence
There were purposefully no Christians on Star Trek; no Jews, no Catholics, no Hindi and no Buddhists. So why would there need to be a Muslim? Stupid George, just plain stupid. To single out one Earth religion among the thousands that exist negates everything Star Trek and Gene Roddenberry stood for.
Listen to what Picard thought of religion and you will understand what Star Trek creator Roddenberry thought of it as well:
SciFi Obsession has a policy of not highlighting fan-funded projects still in the midst of their fund-raising campaigns. We have made exceptions to those rules on only a few occasions. When a project that we feel is important enough we will mention such an endeavor even if full funding for the project is still ongoing. The Kurt Vonnegut Memorial Museum and Library is just such a campaign that we've bent the rules for so as to make it known to our fans who may wish to help fund it.
In 2009, a small group of folks in Indianapolis started the Kurt Vonnegut Memorial Library (soon to be the Kurt Vonnegut Museum * Library) in Kurt’s hometown of Indianapolis, Indiana. Since its founding, over 200,000 people have visited this museum or attended its arts and humanities programming.
The Kurt Vonnegut Memorial Library needs help to secure its new, permanent home and continue its work to uphold Kurt’s legacy. Its current space is for sale and the organization needs to raise $750,000 by July to move into a new, ideal building. As part of its fundraising efforts, the organization is running a Kickstarter campaign to raise a portion of the money needed for the new building.
To our knowledge this on the only museum/library combination in the world solely dedicated to championing the life and work of author Kurt Vonnegut and his legacy.
Coming October 2016 to HBO is the highly anticipated remake of Westworld. Starring Academy Award winners Anthony Hopkins and Ed Harris with an all-star support cast including Evan Rachel Wood, James Marsden, Thandie Newton, Jimmi Simpson, Clifton Collins Jr. and James Marsden. Producing this 10-episode arc are JJ Abrams, Jonathan Nolan, Bryan Burke, Lisa Joy and Jerry Weintraub.
Does it upsets you as much as it does us that CBS/Paramount will allow Mattel this kind of a deal in which Mattel will make a fortune off the Star Trek brand (as will CBS/Paramount); but this mega corp will go after a small fan-funded operation like Axanar and sue the hell out of them with a cease and desist order?
Roddenberry has to be rolling over in his grave on just how much this franchise has been trashed by the money grubbers. Axanar, by law, cannot make a profit but will produce a high quality film product yet idiots can go home and play with their Trek barbie dolls.
A very sad commentary on our times and I'm glad Gene and Majel are not here to see it.

Nathan Fillion as the new Star Trek series captain? Many noticed how much weight Nathan lost for the final season of Castle. Now that it's 8 year run is over, could he be sitting in the center seat for the new 50th Anniversary Trek series on CBS All Access? It's only a rumor now but fans can make your voices be heard. Let CBS/Paramount know what you think.
