Only on very, very rare occasions do we here at SciFi Obsession promote a Kickstarter project before it has reached its pledge goal, however, every now and then an exception is made for various reasons. This is one of those rare exceptions.
Adam Nimoy, son of the late Leonard Nimoy has started a Kickstarter pledge drive to acquire publicly donated funds to help him create and produce "For the Love of Spock," a documentary film that he and his dad had spoken about several months before Leonard's passing. Adam wanted to make a film, not so much about the famed actor, producer, director, writer and photographer we all knew as Leonard Nimoy, but about his most renowned and legendary character creations - Mr. Spock from the iconic TV and film series Star Trek.
Before Leonard died he agreed with his son that with the 50th Anniversary of the very first aired episode of Star Trek coming upon the world soon the time was indeed right for the unfolding of such a production. Sadly, Leonard never got to see he and Adam's vision of it come to pass, but now you can become a part of that vision by helping Adam and the fine array of professionals surrounding this project see it come to fruition.
Some of those very fine and talented people already onboard to lend their talent, time and dollars to the effort are Mr. Star Trek himself, William Shatner, Zachary Quinto - who will lend his voice as narrator of the film, producers David Zappone (The Captain's Close Up), Kevin Layne (Get A Life!), and Joseph Kornbrodt (Skydancers).
Of course this film will be more than just about a fictional character named Spock. With the recent death of Leonard the movie will also spend a great deal of time centering on the life of this brilliant and complex man we all grew to love and admire.
There are two main ways you as a fan and member of the public can get involved. Number one is spread the word. Tell your friends, coworkers and family members. Get on the social media sites and share the project there. Secondly, you can pledge whatever dollar amount you deem appropriate to your current situation and encourage others to do the same.
"For the Love of Spock" needs to get made and wants to be made. You can help make that happen today. Visit the Kickstarter "For the Love of Spock" Website and become a part of a legend's history.
