The first film directed by Ridley Scott nearly 33-years ago is considered by critics and fans alike to be the epitome of sci-fi adventure movie-making and along with Stanley Kubrick’s 1968 ground breaker “2001: A Space Odyssey” it is always rated either number 1 or number 2 as the all-time best science fiction film ever made.
Not much is yet known about the story for this new sequel to “Blade Runner” however, Ridley Scott said that Ford loves the script and says that Ford told him it was the best script he has ever read. That is high praise considering Ford has been acting in films for nearly 50-years. For this to be the best he has ever read says something about its quality. What we do know at this time is Ford will return to reprise his role of Rick Deckard. Beyond that no much else is known at this time.
Scott will still be onboard for the sequel only not as director. He will be one of three producers of the project. A call has gone out to Denis Villeneuve to sit center seat for the film. Villeneuve is best know for directing the 2013 movies “Prisoners” with Hugh Jackman, Viola Davis and Jake Gyllenhaal and the mystery thriller “Mystery” again starring Gyllenhaal and Melanie Laurent.
