An icon of the big screen, Ford has starred in some of the highest grossing films in cinematic history including "Blade Runner," the Star Wars saga, Indiana Jones adventures and Patriot Games films, just to name a few.
Ford has been flying for years and is a very accomplished aviator. After requesting the tower for immediate return communication was lost and Ford's plane went down. He suffered some lacerations with bleeding to his head and some other moderate injuries. According to a tweet from his son Ben Ford, "Dad is ok. Battered, but ok! He is every bit the man you would think he is. He is an incredibly strong man. Thank you all for your thoughts and good vibes for my dad."
Injury wise this has been a tough couple of years for the 72-year old Ford. Earlier in 2014 he suffered injury to his lower extremity on the Star Wars VII set when a door or prop piece fell on him during a day of shooting. In 1999 he walked away uninjured from a helicopter crash.
Ford will be spending the next couple of days in observation at the hospital but is reportedly in guarded but fair condition.
