*News out of Disney Studios is that multi-Oscar winning director Steven Spielberg will be directing a Disney feature film. This will be the first time Spielberg and Disney have collaborated on this level. The production, “The BFG” (The Big Friendly Giant) is based on a work from Roald Dahl and will feature an array of fantasy creatures which will likely be portrayed by A-Listers.
*Good news from Amazon. The company will be providing streaming of the entire first season of “Orphan Black” free in the United States. The first 10-episodes will begin on Friday
(April 17). The free viewing will only last over that one 24-hour period so it will be a chance for newbies to the show or those wishing to re-gorge themselves into the tantalizing performance by Tatiana Maslany’s introduction of her multi-faceted acting chops. Amazon’s goal is to so hook the viewer into “Orphan Black” that they will almost need to purchase Season 2 of the Golden Globe nominated series. Season 3 of the show begins on Saturday, April 18, at 9PM ET on BBC America. It is also aired delayed on BBC America sister stations AMC, IFC, Sundance TV and We TV. An entire 1st and 2nd season of “Orphan Black” is marathoning on IFC beginning this Friday as a lead-in to the new 3rd Season on Saturday. Set those DVR’s.
